Requirements:  
Must have and maintain a minimum 2.5 GPA Applicant must be a current full time, resident undergraduate student with 12-18 credit hours or a full time graduate student with 9 or more credit hours. RAs serving on the lower campus are required to have a car. Position is for the entire academic year – student must be available for the fall and spring semesters.
Hours of Work:  
Approximately 20 hours per week. Additional hours during training, orientation weekends, and opening and closing of the halls are required. Due to the demands of this position, Resident Assistants may not take another position or assume time-consuming volunteer Leadership positions without prior approval from their Residence Director and the Assistant Vice President of Student Life. Resident Assistants may be away a maximum of 4 weekends per semester. The Residence Director must approve these weekends.
Compensation:  
First Year R.A.: Financial waiver equivalent to 80% of room and board expenses (excluding higher cost meal plans), plus a stipend of $50 per semester and a private room for the cost of a double room. * Second Year R.A.: Financial waiver equivalent to 100% of room and board expenses (excluding higher cost meal plans) plus a stipend of $100 per semester and a private room for the cost of a double room. * Third Year R.A.: Financial waiver equivalent to 100% of room and board expenses (excluding higher cost meal plans) plus a stipend of $200 per semester and a private room for the cost of a double room.


* Compensation for Assisi Heights RA is slightly different.

(Resident Assistants are compensated accordingly when they are required to have a roommate because of enrollment.)

Purpose of the Position:

• To assist students in academic, spiritual, emotional, physical, and social growth.
• To foster community and a dynamic Catholic Culture in the residence hall.
• To assist the Residence Director in explaining and enforcing University policies and procedures.


Essential Functions of the Position:

Hall Responsibilities

a. Duty Nights: Each Resident Assistant is responsible for approximately six weekend duty nights a semester and a regularly scheduled weekday duty night. Duty assignments may vary from hall to hall.
b. Assist as needed with the housing process.
c. Coordinate mandatory hall and floor meetings.
d. Assist the Residence Director in accomplishing duties, tasks, and goals within the residence hall such as:
- Check-in/check-out of residents
- Distribution of informational materials
e. Assist with opening and closing of the halls.
f. Maintain a regular presence in hall.
g. Enforce the Code of Student Conduct and Residence Life Policies.
h. Plan, advertise, facilitate, and evaluate programs– a minimum of three per semester.
i. Responsible use of Master Key(s) to the building. Improper use of the key can result in termination. Loss of key will result in a charge of $500.00 ($800.00 for St. Thomas More).
j. Know all the students in the hall and provide peer advising to residents in need.
k. Other duties and tasks as assigned.
l. Serve on Residence Life Committees as assigned. Assist with the Student Success Council initiative as assigned.


Training:

a. Participate in Fall/Spring RA Training: arrive approximately 1-2 weeks prior to the start of each semester.
b. Attend RA In-Services on Wednesday evenings – approximately 6 per semester for 1.5 hours each session (7:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.). Arrange class schedule accordingly.
c. Supervisory Meetings – weekly individual meetings with Residence Director.
d. Staff Meetings – weekly hall staff meeting with Residence Director.
e. Evaluation Meetings – professional evaluation each semester.
f. Responsible for having a working knowledge of the Resident Assistant Manual, the Code of Student Conduct, and the Residential Living Policies.


Arrival and departure dates: (subject to change)

FALL SEMESTER: Arrive approximately two weeks prior to New Student Orientation. Departure date is Monday after exam week at 6:00 p.m.
SPRING SEMESTER: Arrive approximately 3-7 days prior to New Student Orientation. Departure date is Monday after Graduation at 6pm.

*RA’s who are graduating in the spring will have reduced RA responsibilities beginning Sunday of exam week.

Breaks:

THANKSGIVING BREAK AND SPRING BREAK: RA’s are not permitted to extend their break (leave early or return late). RAs may leave after Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. for Thanksgiving break and must return the Sunday of both breaks by 6:00 p.m.
FALL BREAK: If a fall break is scheduled, Resident Assistants are on duty.
EASTER BREAK: Resident Assistants are on duty.
